About the Golden Cross signal
The Golden Cross is one of the most widely watched signals in technical analysis: it occurs when the 50-period moving average rises above the 200-period moving average. It marks the point where the medium-term trend has turned up strongly enough to overtake the long-term trend.
Because both averages are slow, the cross lags the actual low — it confirms a trend rather than predicting one — but that same lag filters out most false starts, which is why it is favoured for position trades.
